The Untouchables (1960)
"The Tommy Karpales Story"

Robert Stack, Madlyn Rhue, Harold J. Stone, Joseph Wiseman

After a mail train robbery/murder by a gas masked gang, career thug Tough Tommy Karpales (Stone) is sentenced to life in the pen. But G-man Eliot Ness (Stack) has a hunch that Karpales didn't do it and thinks the real robbers are still at large and sitting on a million bucks worth of securities. He leans on Karpales with no luck. Vic plays Collier, a strong-arm man for Albert Maris (Wiseman) aka Arnie Mendoza, Karpales' old ex-partner in crime. Hmm…why does a seemingly respectable movie theater owner need a strong-arm man? And how does Ness get these hunches anyhow? (Did Miss Cleo's great-grandma live in Chicago during prohibition?) With Ness getting too close, Maris knows Karpales can bring him down if he squeals so he sends Collier off to kidnap Karpales' daughter, Sally (Rhue) to insure Tough Tommy's silence. This isn't much of a part for Vic but he shows up regularly throughout this rather ho-hum episode.
