Richard Diamond, Private Detective (1957) "The Ed Church Case" David Janssen, Roscoe Karnes New York newspaper reporter, Ed Church, (Karnes) is missing. He was working on a big story about a protection racket when he disappeared - has something happened to him or has he just hit the bottle again? The newspaper editor hires Diamond (Janssen) to find Ed. The trail leads Diamond to Joe Rovi's (Vic) apartment then to a dark alley, danger, and a dark secret. (Hmm…feel like I should slap a big exclamation point on that last sentence but that'd be a bit much, yes?) Vic's got a decent amount of screen time here as the not-so-bright, gullible gangster. Another bad guy, another different portrayal - despite playing three villains in a row, Vic keeps it interesting. You'll want to see this one. Oh, and I like Diamond's car - check out those fins! <
